Frequently Asked Questions
What file format should I send my manuscript in?
We only format books in Microsoft Word format (.docx preferred). If you wrote your book in Google Docs, please download it as a Word file via: File → Download → Microsoft Word (.docx). Your manuscript should be fully edited, proofread, and finalized before you submit it.
What trim sizes do you offer?
We support standard industry trim sizes including 5" × 8", 5.5" × 8.5", 6" × 9", 8.25" × 11", and 8.5" × 11". If you need a different size, mention it in your form notes and we’ll let you know if it’s possible.
What about revisions?
Your booking includes up to two rounds of minor revisions (for example, small spacing fixes, formatting tweaks, or a missed typo). Because formatting is meant to be the final step, we encourage you to send a fully finished manuscript. Revisions are typically completed within about 7 business days.
What files will I receive when formatting is complete?
You’ll receive:
- A professionally formatted ePub file with reflowable text for major eBook platforms (Amazon Kindle, Draft2Digital, Apple Books, etc.).
- A print-ready PDF for your chosen trim size (compatible with Amazon KDP, IngramSpark, and similar services).
Should I edit my book before or after formatting?
Always edit before formatting. Your manuscript should be fully edited, proofread, and ready for publication before you send it. Formatting is the final step in the process.
How should I handle images, tables, and charts?
Please insert images into the manuscript before sending it. For complex tables, graphs, or charts, it often works best if they are provided as images, since formatting tools can be limited with very detailed table layouts. If you’re unsure, mention it in your notes and we’ll advise on the best approach.
What is your typical turnaround time?
For most standard projects, initial formatted files are delivered in about 5 business days. Very complex or highly illustrated books may take a bit longer; if that’s the case, we’ll let you know after reviewing your project.
